Being far away from family has been hard on us at times. The idea of Claire not having family for her first birthday was very sad to me. Fortunately my Dad was able to come celebrate with us. We had a great time.

Claire was particularly squirmy during out meal out. Her high-chair, however, had wheels. So, her and Grandpa took a few laps around the restaurant. Claire was intrigued.(I think it's an odd picture, because we usually don't see a neck on her. She is usually head and shoulders. She looks so regal)
Claire had a Wiggles theme for her party. If there is one thing we have a hard time peeling Claire away from, it is the Wiggles on our computer.
We had quite a few families from our ward come and really enjoyed their company. Hot Potato, with one of Claire's favorite toys at the time. (Minnie Mouse)
Claire really enjoyed her cake, but still had room for paper.......
In case any of you are wondering, Claire didn't get her ears pierced. Our sister-in-law, Kari, gave us the idea to use nail stickers. It works pretty well.

She is beautiful! The first year goes by so fast! I can't believe it! We hope the three of you are doing well!
Awe! Cute Claire. Happy late birthday!!! She is so pretty and LOVE those one-year old pictures you guys took of her! So precious!! Give her kisses from all of us!!
Little Claire looks so big. I'm happy to see that she loves paper; that's a real Evans tradition. I remember Dad chewing paper all the time. In fact, I used to chew paper a fair amount, too; not that I've chewed paper much in the last, say, 15 years. You see, there's this great new invention called "gum." It's flavorful, chewy, and very satisfying. You might want to introduce Claire to it some time when she's old enough to avoid throwing it on the ground.
Love you guys!
Matt
The "word verification" to post this comment was "shetier," which to my eyes looks like "she tier." "Tier" is the german word for "animal." Does the computer think that Claire's a little beastie?
Oh man! I forgot he use to chew paper.
Claire prefers paper, because she's afraid if she swallows the gum it will be in her stomach for 7 years. Paper cleans you out. (Can you see the logic?)
Claire is a little beastie. She growls frequently, when frustrated. I think the computer knows more than I am comfortable with.Keep your eyes peeled for more "big brother" behavior by the computer.
